Go All in With Fall Decor

By Jen Alexander 11.2.15

Does the cool autumn air bring a desire for decoration to your front door? If so, follow some of these tips for Thanksgiving decor that celebrates the best of the season and gets family and friends into the holiday spirit.

The dinner table is often the star of the show at Thanksgiving, but there are countless ways to dress it up beyond the roast turkey and green bean casserole. Use sturdy, pliable fall leaves as place cards for guests, or dip the widest part of an open pine cone in cheery fall-inspired paint colors and scatter several of them around tables and buffets.

Painted pumpkins and other gorgeous gourds are easy and hardy decorations that dress up a doorstep or mantelpiece. Many varieties are pretty enough to set out just as they are.

If your kids love to get crafty, help them make a tree of thankfulness that shows off the abundance of blessings you’ve experienced throughout the year. Twigs and paper leaves combine to become a centerpiece worth admiring. A classic cornucopia is always a crowd-pleaser, but you can put your own modern twist on it by gilding a horn-shaped basket and a bundle of faux fruits and veggies with gold paint.

Welcome visitors with an eye-catching wreath or banner on your front door. Whether they’re greeted by a googly-eyed tulle turkey or a blessing stenciled on rustic burlap, guests will know they’re in for a fabulous fall celebration.
