Celebrate Family Fun Month This August

By Paige Skinner 8.5.15

Before bedtimes come earlier and school days begin, consider taking your family on one last vacation.

There’s no better time for a last-minute trip than August, aka Family Fun Month, when you can take advantage of some of Texas’ best family vacation spots. To find travel deals available to Texas Farm Bureau members when planning your trip, visit the member benefits page.

Schlitterbahn Water Parks

Named one of the best amusement and water parks of 2015 by the Travel Channel, Schlitterbahn is the country’s top-attended seasonal water park, according to the Houston Chronicle. Schlitterbahn, located in New Braunfels, is a great family destination this August. If water slides and wave pools aren’t your thing, you can sit back and relax in a nice shaded area while the kids explore the rides. There are also hot tubs, swim-up bars, and more!

Enchanted Rock State Natural Area

Located 18 miles north of Fredericksburg, Enchanted Rock State Natural Area is a great place to explore if your family loves the outdoors. The activities include everything from hiking and rock climbing to stargazing. For several days in August, Summit Trail Hikes are available, where you and your family can join a park ranger or volunteer master naturalist to learn about the natural and cultural history of the park.

Don’t let the fun end. Once you return home from vacation, try these scheduling ideas to unplug from technology and increase the amount of quality time you spend with family and loved ones during the rest of the year.
