By Paige Skinner 11.27.13

With the smell of Christmas in the air, it’s time to head out with the family and pick the perfect green umbrella for the dozens of presents waiting to rest beneath this Christmas staple. There are plenty of Christmas tree farms to choose from in Texas.

Radde Tannenbaum Farm: Located in Bosque County, this is a choose-and-cut farm, equipped with a hayride, baked goods, and lawn decorations. Trees range from $20 to $60.

Canton Christmas Tree Farm: Open through December 17, this farm is a choose-and-cut, with saws and tree shaking provided. The kids, or adults, can take part in the winter hayrides and bonfires (with s’mores!) as well as view some farm animals.

Flower Mound Christmas Trees: This farm has pre-cut Christmas trees ready and available, along with mazes, sleigh hayrides, bounce houses, and a kid-sized train. All activities are free — there is free hot chocolate and cider on the weekends — and the farm has plenty of picnic tables available for lunch or dinner.

Elves Christmas Tree Farm and Pumpkin Patch: This choose-and-cut and pre-cut Christmas tree farm is located in Denison. The staff provides you with saws if you wish to cut  a tree yourself, and they encourage guests to get into the Christmas spirit as early as possible with an opening day that is right after Thanksgiving.

McNew Star M Christmas Tree Plantation: Don’t miss out on seeing Santa at this choose-and-cut and pre-cut Christmas tree farm in Quinlan. Trees are bagged and tree shaking is provided. Enjoy some free hot cider in the picnic area before getting your kids’ faces painted.
