From important reminders to tips on keeping day-to-day needs top of mind — the Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Monthly Checklist is your one-stop destination for the top 10 things you need to make the most of the next 30 days!

November 2016 Monthly Checklist

  • Clean out those toy chests and playrooms and pick out a few gently loved favorites to donate to organizations such as The Salvation Army, Goodwill, local shelters, and first responders.
  • Head to the polls on Nov. 8 (Election Day) to make your vote count in this year’s election.
  • Commemorate National Aviation History Month by planning a family picnic at your nearest airport! Most airports have viewing areas or designated hangars for visitors to spend the afternoon marveling as the planes take off overhead. If you live near DFW Airport, head to Founders’ Plaza in Grapevine to take in the sights.
  • It’s National Child Safety Protection Month. Safeguard your little ones and receive a significant discount on a car or booster seat with the Child Saver program and your Texas Farm Bureau member benefits.
  • Map out your Black Friday route in advance to streamline your shopping, and do a quick Google search for similar items that will be on sale during Cyber Monday so you can potentially avoid the crowds altogether.
  • Craving some peanut butter goodness? Well, you’re in luck! It’s National Peanut Butter Lovers Month. Check out this recipe for crispy peanut butter bonbons from Texas Farm Bureau food blogger Kelly Bogard.
  • Kitchen fires are a November nemesis. Reduce the risk of fires during your holiday cooking by degreasing your range hood, cleaning the filters, and dusting the areas around the stove and oven.
  • Need a last-minute side dish for a Thanksgiving potluck? Check out our favorite sides on the Texas Heritage for Living Pinterest board for unique dishes to share with friends this holiday.
  • Prep your guest room for the holidays by putting out fresh linens, a basket of sample-size toiletries, and spare towels and blankets. Also talk to your Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Agent about a refreshed home insurance policy that covers you in case guests injure themselves while staying on your property.
  • Need a place to stay while traveling for the holidays? Take advantage of the exclusive hotel deals for Texas Farm Bureau members at texasfarmbureau.org/membership/member-benefits.
