Save on Fun in the Sun With Member Benefits

By Casey Kelly-Barton 2.28.18

When it comes to fun in the sun, there’s no place like Texas. Not only do we have some of the most popular beaches, but Texas is also home to an impressive array of theme parks and waterparks in almost every major metro area.

Texas Farm Bureau members are eligible for special offers at these fun family destinations, so you can treat your family to a great vacation with no airfare or passports required.

Central Texas

Rollercoaster fans know Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio as the home of the Iron Rattler. This hybrid coaster with a steel track and wooden frame coaster ranks No. 4 on Amusement Today’s list of the Top 50 Steel Coasters worldwide, thanks in part to its 171-foot drop down an 81-degree incline — and its maximum speed of 70 miles per hour. If you’d rather relax than rev up your adrenaline, the water park at Six Flags Fiesta Texas features a half-million-gallon, Texas-shaped wave pool that’s perfect for sunning and surfing.

If a whole day — or week — in the water is your family’s style, Schlitterbahn New Braunfels has lots of options, like tubing in the Comal River, surfing in the Boogie Bahn wave pool, and riding the high-energy Torrent River.

Hawaiian Falls Waco is another option for splashy spring break fun. You’ll find activities for all ages, from the tot-friendly Keiki Kove aqua playscape and the Kona Kooler lazy river to the twists and turns of the Tempest Tower Tsunami tube slide.

Dallas-Fort Worth and North Texas

Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington throws a Texas-size spring break party each year, and this year it’s scheduled to run March 10–18. Your family can enjoy live music performances, lip sync and karaoke competitions, and the park’s huge thrill rides, like the 255-foot-tall Titan hypercoaster.

There are four Dallas-Fort Worth-area Hawaiian Falls water parks to explore in Garland, Roanoke, The Colony, and Mansfield. At each park, you can rent a cabana to give your family a shady place to retreat, rest, and snack during your park visit.

Houston Area

Wet’n’Wild SplashTown offers Tree House and Wet’n’Wild Jr. play areas for the younger kids, and a wave pool, lazy river, rapids, and skyscraper-size water slides for the big kids. On the other side of the metro area, Schlitterbahn Galveston offers indoor waterpark fun in all kinds of weather, plus outdoor attractions.

South Texas Coast

Schlitterbahn Corpus Christi and Schlitterbahn South Padre Island both provide family-friendly fun near the beach. The Corpus Christi park and resort features a nine-hole golf course plus a driving range, putting green, and chipping green for practice. At the South Padre Island resort, a river feature connects most of the outdoor water features, and the indoor water park is just a few steps away.
