A Guide to Finding Your Perfect Texas Wedding Venue

By Kristy Alpert 12.18.17

Your wedding day is a reflection of you and your partner, and for true Texas twosomes there is no better reflection than celebrating those nuptials in the Lone Star State. Planning the perfect Texas wedding is all about striking that delicate balance between traditional elements and a relaxed style.

For some brides, that balance comes through donning a pair of worn-in cowboy boots beneath their wedding dress, while for others it means trading in a traditional tiered cake for Texas treats like individual pecan pies in Mason jars or a good ol’ fashioned Texas sheet cake. Or you could go all in and throw a State Fair of Texas-themed wedding complete with Fletcher’s Corny Dogs and a working Ferris wheel.

Whether you’re planning a chic rustic wedding on the farm or opting for western elegance in the city, it all starts with selecting the right Texas wedding venue that will set the stage for your one-of-a-kind marriage. From getting hitched in a historic Houston landmark to getting lost in the beauty at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, you have plenty of options when planning your big day.

Here are seven of the top Texas wedding venues that are the perfect settings for your dream wedding.

1. The Ingenhuett on High

This amazing property was once the oldest continually running general store in Texas before suffering extensive fire damage in 2006. It recently reopened as an industrial-chic venue in its original Hill Country location.

2. The White Sparrow Barn

Designed and built by a wedding photographer in 2014, this Union Valley barn is primed for perfect photo ops with its gorgeous whitewashed facade, natural wood flooring, and vintage rentals.

3. Station 3

Known to Houston locals simply as “Stonewall,” this two-story wedding venue was once one of Houston’s first fire stations. Today, its prime location and exposed brick interiors make it a hot pick for a memorable wedding.

4. Event 1013

This historic landmark was one of the first commercial buildings in Plano, and it has been lovingly restored to a charming vintage space for brides and grooms to exchange their vows in style.

5. Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center

Imagine walking down an aisle lined with native wildflowers from all over Texas. The gardens at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center are some of the most gorgeous in the state and feature more than 800 species of native plants. The center rents its indoor and outdoor spaces for weddings and receptions.

6. Chapel Dulcinea

Located 20 miles southwest of downtown Austin, this open-air chapel seats 12 guests on hand-chiseled stone benches, with space to accommodate 100 standing guests on the patio area. Although it’s small, its no-fee wedding policy and stunning cliffside views make it an attractive option for couples (donations are appreciated).

7. Falkenstein Castle

Texas is actually home to more than a dozen castles, but only at the Falkenstein Castle can brides and grooms have their fairy-tale wedding in a replica of a real European castle, built with limestone and granite and adorned with cast-iron chandeliers and 30-foot-tall columns built from ancient forests.
