Winter Family Activities

Combat those winter woes with fun winter family activities that are exciting for the littlest siblings all the way up to parents who still act like kids.

  • Indoor amusement park – Escape Jack Frost himself at a local indoor amusement or water park. From Legoland Discovery Center in Grapevine, to ZDT’s Amusement Park in Seguin, even down to Galveston and South Padre for Schlitterbahn’s year-round indoor water parks, there’s a day of fun waiting for you all over the state.
  • Limo Light Tour – Catch a glimpse of local holiday lights before they’re packed away for the year in a unique ride — a stretch limo.
  • Calendar of family nights – Spend quality time at home with a calendar of family fun nights. Dust off those old board games for family game night, set up the VHS player and watch old family movies for a walk down memory lane, or pop some popcorn and settle in for themed movie night — the theme doesn’t matter as long as you have fun.
  • Drive-in Movie Theater  – Bundle up in your footie pajamas and pack a thermos of hot chocolate for a trip to the nostalgic times of your own childhood and enjoy a family fun night at the drive-in .
  • Winter Staycation – Need a cure for cabin fever? Take the family on a quick staycation for the weekend. Staycations are perfect for a family on a budget and can be done at a moment’s notice. Travel down the block or across the county and indulge in hotel pampering, breakfast in bed, activities for the kids, and salon services without even leaving the hotel.
  • Go camping – Whether you set up a tent in your own backyard (or living room) or rent a cabin or RV, long winter breaks are ideal for camping in Texas! For more info on camping in Texas, check out the Texas Parks and Wildlife camping website.
