Adrenaline-lovers, take note: Zip line tours are all the rage in Texas and promise exhilarating, outdoor summertime fun.

These tours, most of which are led by seasoned guides, take visitors on soaring trips over the treetops, lakes, and canyons in some of Texas’ most beautiful areas. Zip lines send harnessed guests whizzing over cable lines at speeds that can reach 30 miles an hour; it’s an exciting activity for families, couples, and groups.

Go Ape Treetop Adventure

You’ll zip among the treetops at Go Ape Treetop Adventures, a national chain with a Texas location in Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve in Plano. You’ll spend two to three hours on this tour of the treetop canopy. Zip lines will send you flying through an adventure course of suspended obstacles and swings. 

Helotes Hill Country Ziplines

Head to Helotes Hill Country Ziplines outside of San Antonio for 9 zip lines ranging in length from 100 feet to 1,000 feet. You’ll be zipping at breakneck speeds of up to 35 miles an hour over canyons with scenic views of wildflower fields, horse pastures, and the beautiful Hill Country.

Lake Travis Zipline Adventures

Just outside of Austin, Lake Travis Zipline Adventures boasts the “longest and fastest” zip-lining in Texas. With five zip lines available ranging in length from 300 feet to over 2,800 feet, you’ll zip line over Lake Travis and enjoy unparalleled views of the Texas Hill Country.

New York Texas Zipline Adventures

Located in the East Texas community of LaRue, this zip line tour offers lines as long as 1,500 feet in length high above the treetops. The two-hour tour will bring you breathtaking views at one of East Texas’ highest elevations.

Wimberley Zipline Adventures

Halfway between Austin and San Antonio, a series of 10 zip lines will propel you over the valley at more than 30 miles per hour. Each line ranges in length from 150 feet to 900 feet and promises views of the beautiful valleys of the Texas Hill Country.

Zip Lost Pines

Half an hour outside Austin, Zip Lost Pines offers a range of tour options from a six-line tour to a night tour. With lines ranging in length from 146 feet to over 1,300 feet, there are a variety of intensity levels from which to choose. Expect forest views and elaborate suspension bridges.
